32 IEDs destroy 4 electricity transmission towers in Giza

Unknown assailants used 32 IEDs to destroy four electricity transmission towers in Osim, north of Giza at dawn on Monday, cutting off electricity to the Osim and Warraq areas.

Forensic experts went to inspect the site and determine the impact the explosion had on it. They found that the site was not secured, and that eight time bombs were planted under each tower, detonated by remote control.

The towers, which were erected on farmland with a capacity of 220 KV each, were all destroyed from the blast.

Initial damages were estimated at millions of pounds. Investigators have asked the three mobile phone companies to track down the calls that were made from the area in an attempt to identify the perpetrators.
