The results of a comprehensive survey of rural areas in Egypt for 2015 showed that three quarters of villages have no sewage network, said head of the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics Abu Bakr al-Gendy in a press conference Monday.
He pointed out that 47.5 percent of the villages that have a sewage network suffer from clogging frequently. Gendy said 3.8 percent of villages which have sewage networks suffer from clogging daily.
The South and North Sinai governorates were excluded from the survey, he pointed out.
According to Gendy, 97.5 percent of villages are connected to the public electricity network, and 38.4 percent of villages suffer from power cuts every two or three days, while 15.4 percent of villages rarely suffer from power cuts.
Gendy said 96.5 percent of villages are connected to the drinking water company, but 37 percent of villages suffer from water cuts once a week, and about 15.1 percent suffer from daily water cuts.
