Hossam Eissa, vice-premier and higher education minister, has said that the cabinet is uncomfortable with foreign delegations visiting Muslim Brotherhood figures in prison.
He added that he personally opposes any visits to Khairat al-Shater, deputy supreme guide of the Muslim Brotherhood, as he does not hold any political post.
In a phone call with the privately-owned channel CBC on Monday, Eissa said that deviating from the roadmap would mean deviating from the people’s will, which will not be allowed to happen.
There will not be any negotiations concerning amendments to the roadmap.
A delegation comprised of Qatari Foreign Minister Khaled al-Atteya, Emirati Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed al-Nahyan, US Deputy Secretary of State William Burns, and EU Envoy Bernardino Leon visited Freedom and Justice Party Chief Saad al-Katatny in prison on Monday.
