Sharqiya governor Saeed Abdel Aziz has referred seven education officials for prosecution after discovering a school in which 1,429 teachers and admin officials were running a school of just 158 students.
Wadi al-Malak middle school has only 158 students divided into 4 classes. "Appointing that number of workers in this school has only one explanation – a waste of public money," the governor said.
The governor made a surprise visit to the school where he found just five administrative employees and 12 teachers present. When he checked the school attendance records, he found out that 490 administrative employees, 44 workers and 486 activities supervisors hqve been appointed at the school.
Out of the teachers appointed in the school, 22 have permanent contracts and 387 have temporary ones, according to the governor.
