A joint military and police operation killed an extremist allegedly from the Muslim Brotherhood who was wearing an explosive belt and arrested seven others in criminal areas near Ismailia and Port Said.
Military spokesperson Ahmed Mohamed Ali said the belt was equipped with an electrical circuit, three bombs and five improvised explosive devices filled with highly explosive TNT.
The operation also seized three mobile phones connected to a remote detonator, five electric detonators, two nickel-cadmium batteries and 10 sacks of ammonium nitrate used in improvised explosive devices.
