A fight broke out between a policeman and a worker of the Esna Prosecution during an investigation with certain defendants on Monday.
Yasser Hamdi Hussein, the policeman, said a worker gave the defendants tea in glass cups. “I warned him that this could be dangerous,” he said. “But he threw the cups at me and the fighting began.”
“Prosecutor Mahmoud Abdel Aziz ordered that the worker slap me on the face for beating him or he would detain me,” he added. “So I called my colleagues at the police station and they came and stormed the building and took me and all other police personnel out.”
For his part, Abdel Aziz said the policeman insulted the worker and slapped him several times on the face.
The Luxor district attorney is investigating the incident.
