One person was killed, another injured in clashes between students outside Cairo University on Tuesday, Health Ministry said.
The injured was transferred to the University Student Hospital, while the death was transferred to the hospital’s morgue.
Students union of the university’s Faculty of Engineering announced murder of the student Islam Mohamed Ahmed during the clashes on Tuesday.
Khaled al-Khatib, head of the ministry's Central Department for Emergencies, earlier denied death of the student. He told Al-Masry Al-Youm that the student is in serious condition and is being kept at the hospital’s intensive care unit.
South Giza Prosecution said on Tuesday after examining the body that the student was killed by a bird shot in the chest and requested outcome of investigations by the national security agency.
Investigations conducted at the hospital showed that the victim was killed inside the campus after dispersing a protest by the Muslim Brotherhood for blocking traffic at Nahda Square.
Blood was found on the ground inside the campus, according to investigations. Samples were taken to compare it to that of the victim and the injured.
The other injured student was also hit with bird shot.
