Al-Azhar Grand Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayyeb will inaugurate on Wednesday the international conference held by Al-Azhar under "Al-Azhar against terrorism and extremism."
The conference will be held over two days.
Tayyeb will deliver an opening speech at the beginning of the conference sessions in the presence of a large number of Muslim scholars from 120 countries around the world, international Islamic organizations, heads of the Eastern Churches and representatives from some of the other communities that have suffered from terrorist groups.
Representatives of various Muslim sects were invited attend the conference including Iran, while Qatar and Turkey were excluded.
