A Cairo University employee committed suicide on the rails of the metro station outside the university’s walls, the head of the metro service said Sunday.
Ali al-Fadaly, head of the Egyptian Company for Metro Management and Operation, said the 39-year-old student services worker threw herself in front of the train.
He added that the body was removed by medics and taken to a morgue before traffic resumed on the rails eight minutes later.
Several suicide cases have been reported at metro stations over the past few years.
