Local Development Minister Adel Labib said the governor of Alexandria has inaugurated the first residential building completely powered by solar energy, situated in the Montazah neighborhood. The building is among 12 others, which will obtain electric power the same way.
Labib also said on Monday that the foundation stone for a solar panel factory has been laid at the Muharram Beik Technical School.
The minister explained that solar power saves 30 to 40 percent of the electricity used in lighting, reducing the need for energy subsidies by 15 percent.
