Cairo Airport foils attempt to export mummified deer, fox

Cairo Airport authorities have thwarted an attempt to smuggle a mummified deer and fox from Egypt to Qatar. This was done in accordance with international laws and the CITES Convention, which bans the illegal trade of flora and fauna.

An informed source from the customs department said in remarks on Tuesday that while completing the export procedures of products going to Qatar, the mummified deer and fox were found.

He added that the central department of zoos ordered the mummies be handed over to the zoo museum.

The customs department has decided to take legal measures and file a report on tax evasion. After the items were confiscated, the authorities were contacted to start an investigation.
