The Ministry of Interior has banned tourist buses from using the Quseir-Qeft road, due to the lack of adequate security measures in the area.
The road links the Red Sea province with both Qena and Luxor.
The Egyptian Travel Agents Association has been notified about the measure, officials at the association said, adding that they had been told that the road lacks security and logistic facilities, which makes it dangerous in case vehicles break down or are involved in accidents.
The World Health Organization had said that Egypt has the world’s highest road accident rate with at least 15,000 people killed annually.
