Gamal Mubarak celebrated the birth of his new son with his father, former President Hosni Mubarak, amid high secrecy, Dubai-based Al-Arabiya satellite channel reported Wednesday.
The website, which quoted sources close to the family of Egypt’s former president, did not mention the exact date of birth of Mubarak’s newest grandson.
Gamal Mubarak already has a five-year-old daughter, Farida.
Al-Arabiya reported that a number of Mubarak’s supporters celebrated the occasion outside the Maadi Military Hospital south of Cairo, where the former leader is spending his prison term. The channel said Egypt’s former first lady, Suzanne Mubarak, brought the newborn to the hospital so that his grandfather could see him.
Mubarak and his two sons, Alaa and Gamal, were sentenced last May to three years in prison over charges of misusing millions in state funds allocated for the renovation of presidential palaces. The Court of Cassation will consider a challenge by the young Mubaraks against their sentence.
