Journalists against Torture announced Wednesday that the group had recorded 44 violations against journalists during the first round of parliamentary elections.
The most common violation was preventing journalists from coverning the elections, which stood at 29 incidents, according to the group.
Seven cases of physical assault were recorded, four cases of detention, two cases of threatening and insulting, one case of damaging the equipment of a journalist and once case of abducting a journalist.
The majority of violations were in Giza, which witnessed 33 incidents, followed by Aswan, Beheira, Minya, Assiut with two cases each, followed by Alexandria, Qena and Sohag with one incident each.
Fifteen violations were committed by civilians, ten by government employees, 16 by the police and the armed forces, and the remaining three were by unidentified perpetrators, according to "Journalists against Torture.
