A policeman was shot dead by unknown assailants who were driving a motorcycle late Saturday night, according to a statement by the Interior Ministry.
The perpetrators shot the National Security Agency officer before fleeing, the statement said.
Egypt has witnessed recurrent bloody attacks against police and army troops since the overthrow of former president Mohamed Morsi. The government blames Morsi’s outlawed Muslim Brotherhood for most of the attacks.
