Police forces will not be permitted inside polling stations on Sunday as Egyptians vote for a new parliament, said Sameh al-Kashef, spokesperson for the High Elections Commission (HEC).
Al-Kashef added that police may be admitted only in the condition that authorities solicit their help to quell violence, should that be necessary.
The vote is, however, permitted to take place in the presence of candidates, the heads of the polling stations and their secretaries, reporters from foreign news agencies, as well as Egyptian journalists and media personnel, according to the HEC.
Al-Kashef said the HEC maintains its decision to cancel the poll in some constituencies.
