Egypt’s Tax Authority has shut down the office for the Tax Commission of Joint-Stock Companies located in downtown Cairo, starting from April 20 until May 3, after an employee passed away from coronavirus.
The Preventive Medicine Committee conducted an inspection of the office and placed its workers under house quarantine, while transferring those suspected of being infected to fever hospitals.
The 55-year-old victim, Nour Ragab Mohamed, was employed at the commission’s accounts department according to sources who added that her family has entered quarantine.
The sources said that Nour had been ill since 12 days prior, but upon calling hotline 105 had been told she simply had a cold.
By Saturday, Nour began to suffer chest symptoms and was transferred to the Imbaba Fever Hospital for testing – she passed away two hours later.
Egypt confirmed on April 20 that the total number of fully-recovered cases rose to 732, all of whom have been discharged from isolation hospitals.
Thirty-one cases left quarantine on Sunday.
A total of 1,001 positive cases have been tested in Egypt, with all results now returning negative, according to Health Ministry Spokesperson Khaled Megahed, with 112 new coronavirus cases on Sunday, bringing the country’s number of confirmed total cases so far to 3,144.
The total number of COVID-19 deaths has now reached two hundred and thirty-nine nationwide, after announcing fifteen deaths.
