What visitors can expect to see inside Egypt’s pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai

The Expo 2020 Dubai kicked off in the UAE on Thursday, with Egypt having set up its own pavilion with the hopes of encouraging further touristic interest.

Egypt’s pavilion is set to feature over 103 events, including nine workshops, discussion meetings, business meetings and cultural salons.

Topics include cities and urban development, tourism, development, youth and sustainable livelihoods, agriculture and sustainable livelihoods, real estate investment.

Recreational and cultural activities will be held to attract the largest possible number of visitors to the pavilion.

The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities announced on Tuesday that an archaeological coffin was dispatched from Egypt to Dubai to show at the Egyptian pavilion.

It is the ornately decorated sarcophagus of priest Psamtik bin Uzir, one of several recently discovered in the archaeological area of Saqqara through an archaeological expedition of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, the Ministry added.

A group of archaeological replicas were also sent as part of efforts to promote Egypt’s heritage.

The Egyptian pavilion will also include a group of pictures and promotional films on archaeological sites, tourist resorts and the Grand Egyptian Museum.

Tourist advertising panels will feature designs and drawings on ancient Egypt, and hieroglyphic symbols will be used in decoration inside and outside the pavilion as part of the theme.

The expo was originally scheduled for October 2020, but was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The exhibition is divided into three areas: Opportunities, which aims to unleash the potential of individuals and societies to shape the future; Mobility, which aims to create more efficient and effective means for the movement of people, goods, and ideas; and finally Sustainability, which aims to foster respect to the planet to ensure a cleaner, safer and healthier future for all.

The Egyptian pavilion is located in the Opportunities Area, considered the most important area of the expo next to the UAE pavilion.
