On Thursday, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities started operating the first phase of electronic payment machines for entry tickets to the Luxor and Karnak temples.
This change replaces the manual ticket payment system.
Enabling tourists to obtain e- tickets to enter these temples or pay using credit cards with the use of a hand-reader is definitely a step forward according to Assistant Minister of Tourism and Antiquities for Digital Transformation Khaled.
This new implementation of e-tickets will take affect after the completion of the Luxor festive activities scheduled to be held on Thursday.
The electronic transformation project in the West Nile bank region, where more than 30 archaeological sites and museums nationwide will be converted into the new feature of e- tickets will be the new feature of electronic gates.
Electronic gate systems that have been activated already are in the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Fustat, the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square and the Pyramids area.
