‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ tops Egypt’s foreign box office revenues

In a remarkable feat, the film “Joker: Folie à Deux” has claimed the top spot at Egypt’s foreign box office on its third day of release, Saturday, grossing approximately 1.588 million Egyptian pounds. This brings its total earnings in Egyptian cinemas to 3.489 million pounds within the first 72 hours of its release.

In an interview with Sky News, Lady Gaga, the star of “Joker 2,” revealed that she found it difficult to break free from her character, Harley Quinn. “I can’t get out of character,” she confessed. “I don’t know how I’m going to let go of Harley Quinn. I recorded a whole album for her and lived with her for a long time.”

Gaga added that, “I think Harley Quinn’s journey inspired me from start to finish. It was amazing to get to know the character through music, the script, and dance all together.”

During the film’s special screening, director Todd Phillips disclosed that Joaquin Phoenix, the leading man, felt ill daily due to the nervousness of singing with Lady Gaga while filming “Joker: Folie à Deux.”

“Joker: Folie à Deux” is the sequel to the 2019 film “Joker” and made its world premiere at the 81st Venice International Film Festival. The film received mixed reviews, with some critics praising the performances while others felt it didn’t add anything new to the first installment.

The film stars Joaquin Phoenix, Lady Gaga, Jacob Lofland, Zazie Beetz, Catherine Keener, and Brendan Gleeson. It was written and directed by Todd Phillips.
