RIYADH, Nov 11 (MENA) – President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has stressed Egypt’s support for Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, while expressing rejection of the Israeli aggression on the Palestinian territories and Lebanon.
President Sisi called on the international community to shoulder its responsibility for de-escalation and preventing the region from descending into a full-scale regional war.
Sisi made the remarks on Monday during his meeting with Lebanese Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati, on the sidelines of the Extraordinary Arab and Islamic Summit in the Saudi capital Riyadh, said the presidential spokesman.
The spokesman added that the meeting took up the outcome of ongoing contacts with different regional and international parties to reach an immediate ceasefire in Lebanon and fully implement UN Resolution 1701.
On his part, the Lebanese prime minister commended Egypt’s firm position in support of Lebanon, emphasizing his country’s backing of all efforts made by Cairo to achieve regional peace and stability. (MENA)
