Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian arrived in Cairo on Wednesday evening, leading a delegation aboard a private plane from Tehran.
This visit marks the first trip to Egypt by an Iranian President in over 11 years, during which he will participate in the 11th summit of the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation.
Before departing Tehran, Pezeshkian emphasized the importance of Islamic countries cooperating with one another and setting aside their differences.
“During this visit, we will discuss issues related to Gaza, Palestine, and Lebanon,” he said according to the Iranian news agency Mehr.
Pezeshkian continued, “We will work to strengthen our friendly relations with Islamic countries to thwart the plots of our enemies.”
“Iran is an active member of the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation. These meetings can bring Islamic countries closer together socially, politically, economically, and culturally,” he added.
