Winter began in Egypt on Saturday, and will last for about 88 days, 23 hours, and 39 minutes.
Saturday is the peak of winter astronomically and will be the shortest day of the year, lasting at only 10 hours long while the night will be around 14 hours.
The winter solstice occurs in the northern hemisphere on December 21 or 22 of each year, when the sun reaches its lowest altitude above the horizon during noon.
The sun’s rays are strongly inclined in the northern hemisphere and almost perpendicular in the southern hemisphere, except for the Tropic of Capricorn, which is an annual astronomical event characterized by the sun’s perpendicularity over the Tropic of Capricorn.
