Photos: Qena’s Muslims and Christians come together in solidarity for Eastern Orthodox Christmas

The people of Qena governorate made themselves shining examples of national unity on Tuesday, expressing the depth of bonds between Muslims and Coptic Christians coinciding with the Eastern Orthodox Christmas 2025 celebrations.

In the Nag Hammadi Center, north of Qena governorate, Sheikh Mohamed Mostafa, the Imam of al-Sett Hamida Mosque, delivered a congratulatory speech on the occasion of Christmas via loudspeakers after the Maghrib prayer, saying: “To our Coptic brothers, I congratulate you on Christmas, I ask God to make all your days joyful, loving and peaceful, and to perpetuate our unity and solidarity.”

This initiative was admired by the locals who wrote their appreciation for it on social media, as it reflects the spirit of tolerance and harmony among the people of one nation.

At the al-Waqf Center, Sheikh Mohamed Ramadan, the Quran reciter, visited the Virgin Mary Church in the village of al-Qalamina, accompanied by a delegation of popular leaders to congratulate the Copts on Christmas.

During the visit, Sheikh Mohamed distributed Eidiya treats to the children.

In another touching scene in Qus Center, south of Qena Governorate, children participated in congratulating the Copts inside the Church of St. Stephen, wearing the clothes of Islamic and Christian clerics, amidst praise from the attendees for the children’s active participation.

These moments were widely shared across social media, with users writing to express their pride towards those willing to share in love and national unity among the people of Qena, and emphasizing the importance of these moments in establishing harmony and tolerance between Muslims and Christians in Egypt.
