Permanent Representative of Greece to the United Nations in New York Evangelos Sekeris commended the effective mediation efforts of Egypt, Qatar, and the United States (US) in brokering a long-awaited ceasefire agreement in Gaza.
Speaking during a special UN Security Council session, Sekeris warmly welcomed the ceasefire and hostage release agreement, describing it as a significant turning point for long-term stability in the region despite its apparent fragility.
Sekeris emphasized the need for full implementation of the agreement to end the cycle of violence and ensure the safe return of all Israeli hostages.
The ambassador urged swift action to advance post-conflict planning that prioritizes a secure and prosperous future for Palestinians and the region’s people.
He reiterated Greece’s firm support for a two-state solution, calling for peaceful coexistence where Palestinians and Israelis can live side by side in peace and security.
