It seems we are on the verge of uncovering new and astonishing secrets from the Pyramid of King Khufu, approximately 4,500 years after its construction.
By the standards of our modern scientific and architectural progress, it is still remains greatest man-made structure of the ancient world.
This isn’t just an empty phrase repeated out of national pride for our connection to this grand civilization and our magnificent Pharaonic ancestors. The undeniable truth, attested to by people everywhere, is that King Khufu’s pyramid, standing firm on the Giza plateau, is the only surviving wonder of the seven wonders of the ancient world.
That is why the Persian proverb, “Everything fears time, but time fears the pyramids,” became so well-known.
Since the beginning of what is now known as Egyptology, a field less than two centuries old, many researchers have tried to uncover the pyramid’s secrets using the latest techniques of their time.
Their research has added a significant amount of information, but a question has always remained: “Is this everything?”
The answer is always a firm no, for the simple reason that every time we, as archaeologists, uncover something inside the pyramid, new worlds open up before us – filled with more questions and secrets.
A French expedition made a hole on the side of the tunnel leading to the second chamber, which is mistakenly called the “Queen’s Chamber,” and sand poured out of the hole! After this, they announced everywhere that there were hidden secrets behind this wall.
Before that, a Stanford University expedition came with the most advanced scientific devices of the time and claimed there were secret rooms inside the pyramid, but they were unable to reach them despite being certain of their existence.
Following them, Japanese Egyptologist Sakuji Yoshimura and his respectable scientific team took measurements on the southern side of the pyramid and said that there was a large tunnel on that side.
It’s strange that the French team, after announcing the existence of the sand, put up a huge sign on the edge of the Giza plateau that read: “We are the ones who pierced the pyramid!”
Beyond the scientific expeditions, we have also been plagued by a French adventurer who wasn’t affiliated with any scientific institution.
Unfortunately, he obtained a permit from the Permanent Committee for Excavation to work in front of the entrance to the lower chamber inside the Pyramid of Khufu.
He didn’t find anything, as he believed that King David’s psalms were located beneath the entrance to this chamber!
An American adventurer announced the same type of claim, believing that in my position as Director-General of Giza Antiquities at the time, I was the one who approved or rejected any work in the pyramids area.
He caused many problems at a time when there were issues surrounding the restoration of the Sphinx. When a stone fell from the Sphinx’s right shoulder due to erosion and rain, many rumor-mongers claimed that we had intentionally dislodged it to have the head of the Antiquities Authority removed from his position.
At the same time, a guardian of the Sphinx from Nazlet al-Samman assaulted an antiquities inspector. We had him transferred from Giza to the Bahariya Oasis.
This American adventurer took advantage of all these events and, through an antiquities thief, recorded a video with the guard, who claimed that we had orchestrated the incident.
The police and the Public Prosecution investigated, and the full truth was eventually revealed: no one had interfered with the stone that fell from the Sphinx’s shoulder.
To this day, there are still many ignorant people and others with ulterior motives who spread the idea that the pyramid was built by aliens or by the inhabitants of a lost continent!
This was evident during my meeting with Joe Rogan, where I explained the pyramid and the pharaohs in a way that was appropriate for someone who has never read a single book on antiquities in their life and whose knowledge is based entirely on hearsay from a friend who promotes stories of “aliens” and “star beings building the pyramids.”
After my interview with Joe Rogan, that same woman who has never written a single scientific article on Egyptian antiquities, has never worked on a scientific excavation, and doesn’t know a single letter of the ancient Egyptian language, came out to say that I should leave the field for her and others to speak and defend Egypt’s monuments!
This brings up the question: Have I ever prevented anyone from defending our civilization in the media? Do I have the power to approve or prevent any person from appearing in the media?
The field is open to anyone who can defend Egyptian civilization, which by the way, does not need defenders but rather true scientists who work, research, and publish their findings.
It does not need people who strive day and night on social media to chase trends. I hope there will be hundreds, even thousands, of competent Egyptian archaeologists who will work hard to reveal the greatness of this civilization.
This is the only way to confront anyone who tries to steal our most precious possession: our heritage as Egyptians.
