Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty emphasized Egypt’s pride in historical, fraternal ties with Chad, stressing Cairo’s keenness to advance cooperation across various fields under directives from President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Chadian President Field Marshal Mahamat Idriss Déby to serve both nations’ mutual interests.
The remarks came during a phone call on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, between Abdelatty and Chadian Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdoulaye Saber Fadoul to discuss bilateral relations, cooperation tracks, and regional issues of mutual concern.
The ministers followed up on implementing the outcomes of the fourth session of the Egypt-Chad Joint Committee, including agreed cooperation projects, agreements and memoranda of understanding.
Both sides exchanged views on Sudan, with Abdelatty reaffirming Egypt’s steadfast support for Sudan’s unity, sovereignty, territorial integrity and national institutions while rejecting parallel entities. He underscored the need for a Sudanese-owned, comprehensive political settlement that restores security, stability and development.
The two top diplomats also reviewed Libyan developments, as Abdelatty reiterated Egypt’s firm support for Libya’s unity, sovereignty and state institutions, emphasizing the necessity of a Libyan-Libyan political solution leading to simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections as soon as possible.
