FM: Egypt committed to working with int’l partners on Arab-Islamic plan for reconstruction of Gaza

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty affirmed that Egypt remains committed to working with international partners to implement the Arab-Islamic Plan for Early Recovery and Reconstruction in Gaza.

This plan is considered pivotal to enabling Palestinians to remain on their land under a legitimate and unified authority, governed by the rule of law and exercising exclusive control over weaponry.

The minister’s remarks came during his participation in the Ad Hoc Liaison Committee (AHLC) meeting on Palestine, held on the sidelines of the high-level segment of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 80) in New York.

He called on the participating nations to support Egypt’s hosting of an international Conference on Gaza reconstruction immediately upon reaching a permanent ceasefire.

Abdelatty also urged all participants to provide financial and political support to the Palestinian Authority (PA), explaining that the PA is facing difficulties as a result of Israeli measures that constitute a clear violation of the Oslo Accords.

The minister shed light on the findings of the Independent International Commission of Inquiry report, which confirmed the commission of genocide against Palestinian civilians through systematic targeting.

He emphasized the urgent necessity of an immediate ceasefire and supporting the mediation efforts led by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States, stressing that the recent Israeli aggression against Qatar undermines peace efforts.

He indicated Egypt’s absolute rejection of any attempt to displace Palestinians by rendering Gaza uninhabitable, noting that such endeavors threaten regional security and stability.
