CAIRO, Nov 1 (MENA) – The enthusiasm with which world leaders accepted Egypt’s invitation and participated in the official opening ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) reflects world peoples’ passion for ancient Egyptian civilization, which has influenced humanity and inspired the entire world, according to diplomats.
Speaking to MENA after the opening ceremony on Saturday evening, the diplomats agreed that the unprecedented high-level attendance conveys a clear message that the international community values the role of Egypt’s leadership, government, and people and appreciates its positions in support of peace, stability, and development for the benefit of all humanity.
It also affirms the success of the presidential diplomacy led by President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi in establishing distinguished relations with various countries around the world, the diplomats said.
President Sisi invited leaders of some major countries to the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit last month, and they responded immediately to his invitation to witness the signing of a peace agreement and support efforts to implement it, former Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs Gamal Bayoumi said.
Once again, the president succeeded in bringing together world leaders and heads of government in Cairo for a unique cultural and historical event, Bayoumi added.
Meanwhile, former Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs Rakha Ahmed Hassan emphasized that the high-level international attendance at the grand opening event, which combined the legacy of the past with the creativity of the present, testifies to Egypt’s distinguished position on the global stage, as well as the world’s fascination with ancient Egyptian civilization, which is still regarded as the “mother of all civilizations.”
He said attendees did not just come in large numbers to see the museum and its treasures but also to express their appreciation for Egypt’s status and influential role at the Arab, African, and Islamic as well as Mediterranean levels. (MENA)
