
CAIRO, Nov 16 (MENA) – Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly on Sunday visited the pavilions of the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA), Telecom Egypt, and Egypt Post during his tour of Cairo ICT, the leading Middle East and Africa exhibition and conference for technology and innovation.
NTRA’s Executive President Mohamed Shamroukh reviewed key achievements over the past two years, including the July 2024 launch of a service to block unwanted marketing calls, which has been used by 1.4 million subscribers and resulted in the deactivation of approximately 500,000 violating lines.
He highlighted the signing of 5G licenses worth $675 million in October 2024, as well as the rollout of Wi-Fi 6E, eSIM services that helped activate 700,000 lines, and Wi-Fi calling that has been used in 4.9 billion calls by 7.5 million users.
Shamroukh also outlined the IPv6 strategy, in addition to biometric e-KYC services that is set to be offered in December.
At the Telecom Egypt pavilion, the company’s Managing Director and CEO Tamer el Mahdi reviewed its data center capabilities and the “WE Innovate” initiative to train the youth on cybersecurity and advanced technologies.
At the Egypt Post pavilion, Chairperson Dalia al-Baz talked about new digital financial services, including the relaunch of the “Easy Pay” app and the first smart parcel-locker service “Post Collect,” allowing 24/7 shipment reception.
She also announced the upcoming launch of “Felousi” app, Egypt’s first integrated digital investment platform offering access to more than 40 investment funds through a fully digital process. (MENA)
