Ibrahim Eissa announces court rules in favor of his film ‘The Atheist’

Writer and journalist Ibrahim Eissa announced on Sunday that the Egyptian judiciary has ruled in favor of screening his latest film, “Al-Molhed” (The Atheist), rejecting all lawsuits seeking to ban it.

He emphasized that the decision now rests with the executive branch.

Eissa stated on his Instagram account: “The great Egyptian judiciary has issued a clear and unequivocal ruling in favor of screening ‘The Atheist’ and rejects all lawsuits seeking to prevent its screening. The decision now rests with the executive branch of the state.”

The cast of the film includes Ahmed Hatem, Sherine Reda, Mahmoud Hemida, Hussein Fahmy, Sabreen, Naglaa Badr, and Tara Emad.

The film is written by Ibrahim Eissa and directed by Mohamed al-Adl.

The movie discusses important and thorny issues in Middle Eastern society such as religious extremism and atheism.
