
CAIRO, Feb 10 (MENA) — Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty discussed during a phone call with Mauro Vieira, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federative Republic of Brazil, ways to support and strengthen relations between the two countries, in addition to exchanging views on a number of regional and international issues of mutual interest.
During the call, Minister Abdelatty expressed Egypt’s appreciation for the historic relations of friendship with Brazil, rooted in longstanding ties, and commended Brazil’s supportive stance toward Palestinian rights.
The Foreign Minister also underscored the importance of enhancing economic, trade, and investment cooperation between the two countries, and working to open new markets for Egyptian products with competitive advantages that are in demand in the Brazilian market, within the framework of strengthening South–South cooperation, in a manner that supports national economies and achieves shared development.
The call addressed recent developments in the Gaza Strip, where the Foreign Minister stressed the need to work toward implementing the obligations of the second phase of the U.S. plan.
He also renewed Egypt’s full support for the work of the National Committee for the Administration of the Gaza Strip, as a transitional framework aimed at managing the daily affairs of Palestinians in Gaza, paving the way for the return of the Palestinian Authority to fully assume its responsibilities in the Strip.
At the same time, he emphasized the importance of the swift deployment of an international stabilization force to monitor the ceasefire, ensure the continued flow of humanitarian and relief assistance, and prepare for the phase of early recovery and reconstruction.
With regard to the Iranian file, the Foreign Minister affirmed the continuation of Egyptian efforts aimed at de-escalation, stressing the need to intensify regional and international efforts to contain tensions in the region and advance diplomatic solutions.
In this context, he affirmed that Egypt will continue its intensive contacts and vigorous efforts to reach a consensual settlement of the Iranian nuclear file that takes into account the concerns of all parties, thereby contributing to the support of regional and international security and stability.
For his part, the Brazilian Foreign Minister commended the pivotal role played by Egypt in supporting regional peace and security, praising its ongoing efforts to reduce escalation and address regional crises through peaceful and diplomatic solutions.
He also affirmed his country’s keenness to continue coordination and consultation with Egypt in the coming period. (MENA)
