Egypt reaffirmed its full support for the security and stability of Lebanon, noting that the situation in the country remains critical in light of recent regional developments following US President Donald Trump’s announcement of a two-week suspension of military operations.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, April 8,2026, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates said the suspension of military operations must be accompanied by an immediate halt to Israel’s repeated attacks on Lebanon, in a manner that safeguards its sovereignty and territorial integrity, in accordance with United Nations Security Council Resolution (UNSC) 1701 and creates the necessary conditions for the safe and dignified return of displaced persons.
Egypt reiterated its full support and solidarity with Lebanon, both the government and the people, during this sensitive period, underlining its commitment to enhancing Lebanon’s capacity to overcome current challenges and reinforce security and stability, the statement read.
