Transport Minister seeks to transform Sinai into regional logistics hub

Transport Minister Kamel al-Wazir announced that the state is implementing major projects to achieve comprehensive and sustainable development in Sinai, in accordance with the directives of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.

The ministry is also continuing to implement its comprehensive plan to develop the road network in North Sinai Governorate, in parallel with the establishment of integrated development logistics corridors, such as the Taba/ al-Arish development logistics corridor.

These will contribute to transforming Sinai into an integrated development axis linking various regions of Egypt.

The minister’s remarks came during an inspection tour of development and service projects in North Sinai Governorate, accompanied by North Sinai Governor Khaled Maghawer and members of the House of Representatives and the Senate from the governorate.

Wazir said that integration between the road network and logistics corridors marks a qualitative leap in the development process, as it contributes to reducing transportation costs, increasing the efficiency of supply chains, enhancing the competitiveness of Egyptian products, and supporting the state’s plans to transform Sinai into a regional hub for trade and logistics services.

Developing road infrastructure is a cornerstone for attracting investments, he added, particularly in vital sectors such as agriculture, industry, and tourism.

The minister explained that a modern road network opens new horizons for investors and supports the establishment of development projects that provide job opportunities for the people of Sinai, thereby enhancing social and economic stability.

Improving roads directly facilitates access to essential services, such as education and healthcare, in remote areas, which positively impacts the standard of living for citizens, he added.
