Egypt, Japan discuss development of education systems in schools

Minister of Education and Technical Education Mohamed Abdel Latif held a meeting on Thursday, April 30, 2026, with a delegation from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to discuss ways to benefit from the Japanese experience to enhance educational quality and develop education frameworks in Egyptian-Japanese schools.

During the meeting, Abdel Latif affirmed that cooperation between the Ministry of Education and Technical Education and JICA represents a key pillar in the development of education, as it enables the exchange of expertise and contributes to improving the quality of the educational process and building a modern education model that meets students’ needs and keeps pace with future requirements.

He noted that the ministry is keen to fully strengthen cooperation with JICA in developing the education system, particularly in applying best international educational practices, which positively reflect on students’ performance.

The Minister also reviewed the success story of Egyptian-Japanese schools, emphasizing that the ministry aims to continue expanding these schools across the country.

For their part, the JICA delegation members expressed appreciation for the efforts of the Ministry of Education and Technical Education in developing the education system, noting that the Egyptian-Japanese experience represents a distinguished model of international cooperation in education.

They also praised the significant progress in implementing “Tokkatsu” activities within Egyptian-Japanese schools.

The meeting addressed ways to enhance ongoing cooperation in various areas related to the development of the education system, as well as discussing mechanisms for improving the academic year structure in Egyptian-Japanese schools, contributing to a more effective educational experience and supporting teaching quality in classrooms.

Both sides agreed to continue coordination and joint work to maximize the benefits of the Japanese experience and support the state’s efforts toward achieving high-quality education.
