Egyptian businessman Sabry Nakhnoukh and his brother detained over violent brawl

Egypt’s Public Prosecution ordered on Wednesday the detention of businessman Sabry Nakhnoukh, his brother, and two other suspects for four days pending investigations into a violent brawl and mutual accusations of assault inside a well-known car dealership in New Cairo.

The detention order came after an extensive interrogation session that lasted for several hours.

The prosecution confronted the suspects with forensic evidence and security investigations indicating their involvement in storming the premises and assaulting those present.

The suspects also faced accusations related to deliberately damaging and disabling the dealership’s security cameras to conceal evidence of the incident.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the altercation stemmed from a financial and real estate dispute between Nakhnoukh and the showroom owners regarding the cancellation of a villa purchase deal in the North Coast region and the demand for the return of the down payment.

The suspects’ detention is scheduled to be renewed at the legally mandated time, while the prosecution continues its review of the field inspection reports and the medical reports of those injured in the incident.
