The United States “bears responsibility” for Israel’s actions, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said Monday, according to the state-affiliated Tasnim news agency.
The US “bears responsibility as a party to the April 8 ceasefire understanding,” Baghaei was cited as saying by state-linked Tasnim news agency, adding that “whatever happens in the region… the direct responsibility of the United States is established, and it will also bear responsibility for the consequences of any escalation.”
“The purpose of the negotiations was to bring an end to the war against Iran, and we had also considered an end to the conflict in Lebanon as part of the ceasefire,” he added, warning that undermining that premise would “inevitably” affect the diplomatic process.
