FM, US presidential advisor discuss regional developments

Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty and US President Donald Trump’s Senior Advisor for Arab and African Affairs Massad Boulos discussed a range of regional developments during a phone call on Thursday, June 18, 2026.

The two officials praised the strength of Egyptian-US relations and expressed their commitment to expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

For his part, Abdelatty welcomed the memorandum of understanding reached between the United States and Iran, expressing hope that it would contribute to easing tensions and promoting stability across the Middle East.

The talks also tackled developments in Libya, with Abdelatty reaffirming Egypt’s support for the country’s unity, stability, and national institutions.

He stressed the importance of advancing a comprehensive political process that would lead to presidential and parliamentary elections as soon as possible.

In addition, the two sides exchanged views on developments in the Horn of Africa.

Abdelatty reiterated Egypt’s support for security and stability in the region and stressed the importance of preserving the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of its countries.
