Medical Syndicate refers gynecologist to ethics committee over misconduct at Shatby Maternity Hospital

The Egyptian Medical Syndicate has announced the referral of an obstetrician-gynecologist to the Medical Ethics Committee over reports of misconduct at the Shatby Maternity Hospital.

This decision follows widely circulated social media content attributed to her deemed offensive to patients and citizens alike, violating the professional and ethical standards of medical practice—principles rooted in respecting patients and safeguarding their dignity.

The Syndicate confirmed it received numerous complaints and demands from both medical professionals and citizens regarding the physician’s attributed actions.

The complainants called for an immediate investigation to verify the facts of the circulated incidents and to take all necessary measures according to the laws and regulations governing the medical profession.

Furthermore, the Syndicate clarified that the physician has been officially referred to the Medical Ethics Committee to review the case.

She will be summoned to the earliest scheduled hearing for questioning, paving the way for appropriate disciplinary action if the violations are proven.

The Egyptian Medical Syndicate reaffirmed its absolute commitment to protecting patient rights and preserving their dignity while upholding the prestige and ethics of the medical profession. It emphasized that it will tolerate no behavior that undermines public trust in physicians or breaches the code of medical ethics.
