Egypt qualified for the Round of 32 of the 2026 World Cup as runners-up after losing their group lead following a thrilling draw against Iran.
This result handed the top spot to Belgium, who thrashed New Zealand to claim first place in Group G with five points, ahead of Egypt on goal difference.
With this result, Egypt will face Australia, the runners-up of Group D, in the Round of 32. The winner of this match will then face the winner of the Argentina vs. Cape Verde match in the Round of 16.
The Egypt vs. Australia showdown is scheduled for Friday, July 3, at 9:00 pm Mecca and Cairo time, and will be held in Arlington, Texas, US.
