FM discusses with EU Representative for Horn of Africa developments in region

Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty discussed on Monday, June 29, 2026, with European Union Special Representative for the Horn of Africa Annette Weber developments in the Horn of Africa region and efforts to enhance security, stability, and development in the region.

Abdelatty stressed Egypt’s firm position in support of Sudan’s security, stability, sovereignty and territorial integrity.

He emphasized the importance that neighboring countries respect Sudan’s sovereignty and security, refraining from interfering in its internal affairs, and the need to halt all forms of escalation, prioritize Sudan’s national interests, and seriously engage in a Sudanese-owned process leading to a comprehensive political settlement that preserves Sudan’s sovereignty and meets the aspirations of its people for security, stability, and development.

The two sides also discussed developments in the Horn of Africa region, where the Foreign Minister stressed the importance of maintaining the region’s security and stability, supporting national institutions, and preserving the unity and territorial integrity of states.

He affirmed Egypt’s rejection of any policies or measures that could undermine Somalia’s sovereignty or regional stability, as well as any attempts to impose parallel entities that contradict with Somalia’s unity and territorial integrity.
