Everything to know about the 4th metro line to Haram and 6th of October

Residents of al-Haram and 6th of October City districts are eagerly awaiting the opening of Metro Line 4, one of the most important mass transit projects currently underway.

The first phase of the new metro line is scheduled for completion in January 2028, with operations expected to begin in the first half of the same year.

The route of Metro Line 4

The first phase of Metro Line 4 extends for 19 kilometers, starting west of the Ring Road on the outskirts of 6th of October City, passing through the Grand Egyptian Museum station, Shooting Range Square, and al-Haram Street, reaching Giza station, where it interchanges with Metro Line 2.

The line continues its route to intersect with Line 1 at el-Malek el-Saleh station, and ends at al-Fustat station. This phase includes 17 stations, 16 of which are underground, in addition to one above-ground station.

The second phase of the project extends between al-Fustat and New Cairo, spanning 26.9 kilometers and including 21 stations – 15 underground and six elevated.

The underground route begins at the intersection with Metro Line 6 at Sayeda Aisha Station, then proceeds along Nasr Road and Nasr City via Anwar al-Mofty Street to interchange with the East Nile Monorail at al-Tayaran Station.

The second phase route continues along Hafez Ibrahim Street, then intersects with Shinzo Abe Axis before turning east towards Ahmed al-Zomor Street and al-Mithaq Street.

It then transitions to a surface track over the Majid al-Futtaim Bridge until it intersects with the Ring Road.

It continues past the Police Academy, heading east along al-Sadat Axis and north along Mostafa Kamel Axis, finally reaching the major maintenance workshop for Line IV north of the Ring Road intersection with the Cairo-Suez Road.

The third phase is 16.3 kilometers long, extending between al-Ashgar Gardens and al-Hosary Square, and includes 10 stations.

It aims to serve the densely populated areas along its route, in addition to connecting with the West Nile Monorail via al-Hosary Station.

The fourth phase extends from New Cairo to the Capital Airport, covering 38.7 kilometers, and includes 8 stations.

This allows for a connection with the light rail (Adly Mansour – 10th of Ramadan – New Capital) at the Capital Airport Station.

The capacity of Metro Line IV is expected to reach approximately 1.5 million passengers daily after its completion.
