President Sisi participates in closed-door session of BRICS leaders

President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi will participate in the closed-door session of the leaders of the BRICS countries, hosted by the Indian capital New Delhi, under the theme “building resilience, innovation, cooperation and sustainability” Saturday, September 12, 2026.

The President will deliver Egypt’s statement during the closed-door session of the BRICS leaders, which is being held under the theme inclusive global governance and strengthening multilateral action.”

Following the closed-door session, the president and the BRICS leaders are scheduled to tour an exhibition marking the 20th anniversary of the launch of the BRICS grouping.

The president will also participate in a dinner banquet hosted by the Indian prime minister this evening in honor of the leaders participating in the summit.

Egypt’s priorities within BRICS include launching joint projects in vital sectors, expanding economic and financial cooperation, and reforming the global financial system.

The key outcomes of BRICS summits following Egypt’s accession included the adoption at the 2024 Kazan Summit of two documents: a political declaration and a document outlining the guiding principles, criteria, and procedures for the accession of partner countries to the grouping.

Meanwhile, the 2025 Rio de Janeiro Summit produced three documents: a declaration on “global governance of AI,” “framework on climate finance,” and the Rio de Janeiro declaration, the main concluding document.
