The State Security Prosecution summoned former Petroleum Minister Sameh Fahmy for questioning, after receiving complaints that Fahmy had sold natural gas to Israel and six European countries for artificially low prices, causing the loss of LE3 billion in state funds over five years.
For his part, Fahmy said he was just carrying out orders from former President Hosni Mubarak and former Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif.
The prosecution also ordered a travel ban for Abdel Alim Taha, former president of the General Petroleum Authority, and Mohamed Tawila, former president of the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company.
