Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs Nabil al-Arabi called his Tunisian counterpart, Mohamed Mouldi Kefi, on Saturday to apologize for riots that occurred during the last minutes of an Africa Champions League match between Egypt's Zamalek and Tunisia's Club Africain.
The official news agency MENA quotes al-Arabi as saying that Kefi accepted the apology.
The Saturday game played at Cairo Stadium saw hundreds of Zamalek supporters rushing onto the pitch and fighting with players and policemen. Nine people were injured.
The Ministry of Interior a number of individuals involved were arrested following the match.
Prime Minister Essam Sharaf apologized to the Tunisian people in a phone call to Al-Hayat satellite TV channel on Saturday night.
