An Egyptian court decreed Thursday that ousted President Hosni Mubarak and his wife Suzanne's names should be removed from public places.
Education Ministry data indicates that 549 schools across Egypt bear the Mubarak moniker, including 388 named for the former president, 160 for his wife, and one school for their son Gamal.
The Abdeen Court ruled their names and photographs should be removed from squares, schools, streets and other public places.
The case came in response to a lawsuit filed by lawyer Samir Sabri to rename the public places after revolution martyrs.
Other lawyers want the Egyptian flag hung in the future instead of photographs of Egypt's presidents because they say it better represents the country.
