Families of the martyrs and victims of the revolution staged protests on Monday against Interior Minister Mansour al-Essawy, who said recently that the revolution's martyrs are only those who died in Tahrir Square during the revolution.
The protesters marched to the cabinet building and said they had filed complaints against Essawy with the attorney general.
“He is denying us our legitimate financial and moral compensation,” said the mother of Ahmed Zein Eddin, a martyr of the revolution. “My son was no thug.”
“My son is now paralyzed after he was wounded in Mattareya Square,” said the mother of 25-year old Mohamed Qorany. “And we have not been compensated so far.”
