Egyptian Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Fayza Abouelnaga met in Cairo with the new Tunisian ambassador to Cairo, Mahmoud al-Khomairy, on Thursday.
Abouelnaga and Khomairy discussed means of enhancing relations between Egypt and Tunisia within the framework of the Supreme Egyptian-Tunisian Joint Committee, headed by the prime ministers of the two countries.
Abouelnaga and Khomairy agreed to implement moves formerly agreed upon by the two countries to activate bilateral cooperation in the fields of trade, scientific research and energy.
The officials discussed the two countries' efforts to overcome economic difficulties faced by Tunisia and Egypt in the wake of their revolutions.
They also discussed measures to promote tourism in order to boost their respective economies, and exchanged ideas aimed at improving living standards and promoting democracy, according to official sources.
