Abdelatty, Blinken discuss Gaza developments over phone

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty has received a phone call from US State Secretary Antony Blinken.

The two top diplomats discussed the latest developments in the war-ravaged Gaza Strip and the situation in Syria.

Abdelatty underlined the importance of rallying regional and international efforts to attain an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and ensure the access of unobstructed humanitarian assistance to the enclave.

He also stressed the need for Israel to stop its aggressive policies toward the Palestinian people.

He further expressed categorical rejection of the systematic targeting of the health infrastructure and hospitals in the Gaza Strip, in a flagrant violation of international law.

Regarding the situation in Syria, Abdelatty affirmed Egypt’s unwavering support to the Syrian people.

He further stressed that the political transition process should be comprehensive, free of any foreign dictates and that it should preserve and support the unity and stability of Syria and its people with all its components and segments.

Blinken, for his part, expressed his deep appreciation for the important role Egypt continues to play for the security and stability of the region.
