CAIRO, Jan 6 (MENA) – Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty had talks in Muscat with Omani Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion Qais Mohammed al Yousef.
They discussed means of enhancing economic and trade cooperation between the two sides as well as promising investment opportunities.
The foreign minister lauded Oman’s march of development and the achievements realized over the past period under Oman Vision 2040.
He underscored the importance of integration between Egypt Vision 2030 and Oman Vision 2040, thus contributing to boosting economic cooperation, especially investment in the renewable energy domains, green hydrogen, maritime transport, logistics as well as pharmaceutical and food industries.
Abdelatty highlighted the importance of enhancing cooperation between the Suez Canal Economic Zone and the Special Economic Zone Authority of Duqm (SEZAD).
He also underscored the importance of enhancing cooperation in maritime linkage between the Omani ports of Duqm and Salalah and Egyptian ports of Alexandria, Ain Sokhna, and others.
This will contribute to bolstering trade exchange and cooperation in the fields of maritime transport and logistics, he said.
Abdelatty stressed the importance of promoting the role of the private sector and businessmen in both countries, saying that Egypt is looking forward to promoting trade and economic cooperation between the two countries and benefiting from common free trade agreements.
The foreign minister reviewed the institutional reforms carried out to ease measures for investors, especially updating the legislative mechanism of the public sector, in light of the government’s interest in luring foreign investments.
Abdelatty expressed hope that Egyptian companies operating in Oman would join hands with Omani and Gulf companies to implement development projects under Oman Vision 2040. (MENA)
